An elderly man is shot dead in his own driveway.   A cab driver is murdered in cold blood.  Teenagers shoot guns at each other on a regular basis.  Kids join gangs instead of their high school teams.  Drug dealers ply their filthy trade.

What is wrong with this picture?  Is this the City of Champions we really want?  The answer is of course no!  We all want to be safe.  We all want to be able to take a stroll on the streets at night without worrying about being accosted by muggers, gang members, and other criminal elements.  We want to raise our kids with the biggest concern being whether we can pay for their college education, not whether they'll even make it to college age.

Things are a mess and public resources are being stretched to the limit.  But there is something we can all do as citizens to make our communities safer.  As a citizens patrol the Guardian Angels have become active in over 100 cities in 12 countries around the world.

Recently we have begun the process of forming a chapter right here in Brockton.  Our weapons against crime are not guns or knives, but open communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution.  As peacemakers we do not start trouble, we resolve it.  We are not the police, but we will make citizens arrests in the name of public safety when the situation calls for it.

Don't feel as though there is nothing you can do.  Join us, train with us, patrol with us, and let's take back our streets!
